Wansford is two separate villages under different parish councils. Wansford Parish Council, within the area of Peterborough City Council, comprises the village north of, and including, Wansford Old Bridge.

The village to the south of Wansford Old Bridge (The Haycock side) is represented by Sibson-cum-Stibbington Parish Council and comes under Huntingdonshire District y: England.

The stone bridge replaced an earlier wooden bridge with eight arches damaged by floods inin the original thirteen arches were reduced to ten following ice and flood damage. The Wansford bypass was constructed in Wansford signal box.

The signal box was built in by the London and North Western Railway to replace three smaller boxes. It was originally built with 60 levers and is one of the largest preserved signal boxes in its original location.
